Harry paints and teaches at Studio 590, a restored 1815 log cabin, in Pinehurst, NC, USA. He began painting in his teens with a Paris trained artist and continues studies with mentors in the US and overseas.
This spring Harry took opportunities to meet, talk to, visit or paint with ten of today's master plein air artists who were invited to the "Paint Wilmington 2011" plein air paint-out sponsored by Walls Gallery in Wilmington, NC. In the June 2011 judged show, "Absolutely Art", Cathy Taylor awarded Harry 3rd place, oils . At the Spoleto Festival, Charleston, SC, Harry presented a seminar for artists on "Formatting your Art" at Spencer Gallery. In June and July Harry traveled to Italy with master artists, Danni Dawson and Mike Francis. On the return trip from Italy, Harry studied in the Prado, Madrid, Spain. Returning home he was artist for the Royal School of Church Music choir camp in Raleigh, NC. July ended with a week on the coast of NC, painting low country scenes. In November Harry's painting "Fall Harvest" won Peoples Choice Award at the 17th Annual Show. Harry paints in oils and acrylics in a classical/impressionistic style with a modern palette. He is a favored instructor locally and has taught at a nearby university. Art in America lists Harry in the 2011-12 Artist Index and his work has been in The American Art Collector and Charleston Magazine. Harry is an associate member of Oil Painters of America. He is represented by Campbell House Gallery in Southern Pines, NC, and Spencer Gallery in Charleston, SC.
